They can be, but ModuleScripts let you 100% control the visibility of it's variables because you only expose the ones that you put in the returned table. Modular scripts seems to be similar to having a lot of global functions. They're different from the objects we can create in pure Lua using tables and functions, but still just as much objects. I don't understand why you say they don't. They do handle their own internal stuff, in the most OOP- like way possible. We create a new instance of the class using the Instance.new function, and then we use properties and methods on those instances to make them do stuff. This is exactly how we work with the built-in classes in Roblox. In other OOP languages you would refer to those objects and their functions whenever you wanted to do stuff with them I guess the thing that confuses me is that objects in the workspace (like parts, meshes, models, etc) aren't treated as 'proper' objects in they way that you don't let the objects handle their own internal stuff. There are different Lua libraries available for working with classes, try googling for it. If you want stricter structure you'll want to implement classes and instances using metatables, and probably create a function for defining new classes in a standard way. This is not super structured, but shows the basics of how classes and instances can be implemented in Lua.
